I own an older gaming PC still used for gaming. It originally came with a 990fxa-ud3 Rev4.0, 16GB DDR3 RAM at 1600MHz, an AMD FX 8350 processor, and now includes an EVGA 1070Ti ACX 3.0 Black Edition. Previously it had an EVGA 1660Ti SC Ultra gaming unit inside. Recently I’ve noticed my FPS dropping significantly across most games after switching to the 1070Ti. For example, in COD: Warzone I’m consistently stuck at 35-45 FPS even with medium/low settings, whereas on the 1660Ti I can hit 60-80 FPS smoothly. Why is this happening? Could be driver issues, thermal throttling, or compatibility problems with newer games. The 1660Ti seems better optimized for modern titles. If you decide to replace it, consider checking the latest drivers and ensuring proper cooling.

The 1070Ti is roughly three years newer than the 1660Ti. A 1660Ti is essentially a 2060(Ti) version but with some shader cores taken out and no RT Cores known, making it more powerful than the 1070Ti. Additionally, the 1660Ti includes tensor cores, allowing you to use NVidia DLSS.
To avoid delays, should I revert to the 1660 Ti until a new build arrives in a few months? Included list: i3-12100, ASUS Prime B660-Plus D4, 16 GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3200 C16 DDR4, Samsung 980 NVMe M.2 500 GB for boot/OS, 2 TB SSD for storage, 2 TB HDD for backup. The 1070 Ti was intended for this model.
Regardless of the GPU chosen, performance issues won't be this severe. Opt for a 12400f to ensure you can continue using it for as long as possible after your FX chip purchase (provided you bought it new). It's pricier but offers significantly more power. With 4-core 8-thread CPUs nearing the end of their lifespan, this upgrade becomes even more valuable.
