I recently purchased a new PC equipped with a GTX 960 and an i5-6500. I also added a GTX 1070 to boost performance, but the fit in my ATX mid tower was extremely snug, forcing the 1070 into place. After removing the old drivers and installing the new ones for the 1070, the system began freezing even during light games like Roblox and Minecraft. I suspect a contact problem with the PCIe 8-pin connector due to the tight fit. I switched back to the GTX 960 and reinstalled the drivers, but now I experience random black screens and freezes even when idle. Can someone help me understand what’s happening with my computer? P.S. I might be responding late because I’m in South Korea.

Switch drivers by using DDU to clear all nvidia driver entries first, then install the new one.

If the 1070 was truly stuck inside, the PCIe connector might have been harmed.

I'll test using a different PCIe power connector on my PSU. I forced the 1070 in by pulling the power connector tightly, which might have caused the issue. I'll try swapping the PCIe connector and will update you on the outcome. Additionally, the background freezes only last around 10 seconds, but I have to press the reset button each time a black screen appears.

Attempt to remove all drivers, then reinstall them a third time.

I was really occupied, so I haven’t had a chance to test it yet. However, I plan to try it today.

Yes, it functioned correctly! The performance is now smooth with no lag in games. Appreciate your guidance.
