My configuration details. The modem cable connects to the TP-Link WR940N for downstairs use, and from there the cable goes to the WR841N router for upstairs access via Ethernet. For three years, the 940N was plugged into the WAN port of the 841N. Recently, I tried a method suggested on a forum: connect the internet cable from the 940N to the LAN port on the 841N. It worked initially, but after launching Rainbow 6 Siege it froze for 30 seconds and reported a connection error. I could switch tabs and visit other sites without issues. I suspected the game was causing the problem, but similar issues appeared with another game from a different developer (World of Tanks). The in-game network meter turned red and movement stopped. My friend joined the match and didn’t face the same trouble. I restarted both routers, cleared DNS entries, changed them, but nothing resolved it. I also tried re-establishing the 940N to the WAN port, but no connection remained. Any suggestions on what might be causing this or why I can’t revert to the old setup?

Was der DHCP-Server auf dem 841N deaktiviert? Falls nicht, dann konkurrieren beide Router um die Berechtigung, DHCP-Anfragen zu bearbeiten.

I’m having trouble accessing 841N anymore. After the cable change, I relied on 192.168.0.1 for 940N and 192.168.1.1 for 841N. Now only the 940N login is functional. Entering 192.168.1.1 redirects me to a different login screen—my main modem. Updated September 26, 2018 by Sandro797 Found Residential Gateway login/pass on main modem

You should detach the 841N from the existing router, link it to the 841N, turn off DHCP, then reconnect. To keep accessing the web UI on the 841N, you must also adjust its IP address to match the main LAN range initially—preferably by updating the primary router to omit that IP from its DHCP zone so conflicts don’t occur, otherwise you’ll need to manually assign your PCs IPs within the correct 0.x section.

I viewed a YouTube video that covered everything clearly. Now I can manage both routers. I turned off DHCP on the 841N and attempted to play R6S, but after some time it failed again. The screen froze and I was redirected to the menu with a connection error. Discord functioned properly at that point. My voice remained clear throughout.

Both the primary router and the PC experiencing issues are connected via LAN ports on the 841N. This implies the problem likely isn’t with the 841N itself, since its behavior is bypassed through the LAN ports, which typically operate independently of the router. I’ll verify if the 940N has the latest firmware or if there are other concerns there. You can safely connect the cable directly to the PC from the 920N, though it shouldn’t function differently.
