Hi everyone, I just put in a new battery for my Lenovo Yoga C930. The original ones from Lenovo are really bad—they lose capacity fast. I bought one from Amazon instead. It seems to charge properly and shows correct capacity after some cycles on batteryreport. But when plugged in, the laptop hibernates unexpectedly. I checked Event Viewer and it always shows event 524 (Critical Battery Trigger Met), then event 42 with "Sleep Reason: Battery." This doesn’t seem to happen when using AC power. I suspect the battery controller isn’t fully compatible with this BIOS version and there’s no update available, so I changed Windows Advanced Power Options to ignore critical battery issues while on AC. So far it hasn’t happened again. The battery is still within the return/exchange period. Any thoughts on what’s really going on? Thanks!

Are you relying on a battery health monitor for this? Those tools often prove surprisingly inconsistent with laptop battery performance. Regarding the unusual behavior, I’ll keep it to you—it seems the device isn’t functioning properly, and official batteries clearly aren’t up to the task.

No health monitor needed—just watch closely as it drops to near empty in 2-3 hours. The windows battery report shows only half the stated capacity. It looks like this laptop has a known problem, and the new battery holds charge well overall, though it glitches when using AC power.
