Hello everyone, I just upgraded from an MSI RTX 2070 Super to a Gigabyte RTX 4070 Windforce 12GB OC. After swapping the graphics card, I heard a persistent whining noise both when idle and under load. It hasn’t stopped even when stressing the system. Could this be normal? Also, during installation I applied quite a bit of force and the clip came loose, but it reattached properly. Everything functions well now, including 4K at 120Hz HDR. Here’s what I have: PC model, first build in 2019, initial upgrade questions, cooling setup, motherboard, CPU, cooler, power supply, and specs. Thanks for any advice!

The only sounds I've ever detected from a graphics card are coil whine. It doesn't have a mechanical feel, which points to a faulty fan bearing, so it's likely just coil whine.

Verify your card using HWinfo in idle/light settings. Observe the fans for any reduction to 0 RPM. Note when the noise appears or disappears. Track fan speeds and power usage alongside the sound you hear. Ideally, your 4070 should spin down to 0 RPM while consuming about 10 watts on idle. Check if your card produces any noise under these settings—unusual sounds may indicate a problem. You might want to temporarily halt the fans briefly to see if the noise changes, but avoid doing so unless necessary, as it could harm the fans. Also confirm that the sound is coming from the graphics card and not another source.

from my ears it sounds like a bad bearing in the fan or a fan best advice is already given above. if not fan its coil whine or air turbulence from fan speed.
