The latest tests indicate that 8700K benchmarks suggest desktop users won’t face issues from the recent update. The main impact appears to be on high I/O devices such as NVME.
This explains what it means for AMD users. Their CPUs aren't affected, but you should update your operating system. I shared a link to download the Windows patch manually.

In short, there are two main concerns: Meltdown, which is confirmed for Intel processors and thought to be safe for AMD and ARM, with OS-level updates in progress. Specter impacts all CPU types—Intel, AMD, and ARM—and no universal fix exists yet. Essentially, most consumer CPUs since the late 90s have had security weaknesses, with one issue specific to Intel being addressed and another affecting everyone. Things are pretty rough lately.
