Despite the April article being outdated, recent statements from representatives of Activision and Bungie contradict its original claims. Reach marked the final Halo title before, not ODST. 343 contributed to the DLC for Reach but completed the main game itself. My brother assisted with both ODST and Reach before joining 343 for Halo 4, later returning to Bungie for Destiny. ODST was never meant as a standalone title, and its contract with Microsoft didn’t obligate extra development. The team anticipated a lengthy gap between Halo 3 and Reach, so they aimed to bridge it. Production surpassed expectations, resulting in a fuller experience than initially planned.
