Destiny 2 experienced crashes during travel.
Hi, I understand the situation. Someone is experiencing issues with Destiny 2 on their ASUS VivoBook S14 laptop. The game frequently crashes when trying to travel between planets, and the error message says "Game contents couldn't load." They've tried several fixes: reinstalling the game, Steam, all drivers, updating Windows, using another PC, and changing the network connection. Despite these attempts, the problem persists. Based on what they know, it seems like the hardware might be faulty, especially since they played the game for many hours without issues. It's puzzling given the performance of their integrated graphics. I hope someone else has encountered a similar situation and can offer further advice. Thanks!
i didn’t understand the specifications at first, so i decided to look them up. based on asus’s website, this model includes the gpu right inside the same package as the cpu. since destiny 2 is quite demanding graphically, i recommend testing it on a more powerful system. if your friend wants to play it with a weaker gpu, try lowering the resolution to 1280x720 and keep all effects at minimum. regarding the error message, i’m not sure what’s causing it. if the file is corrupted, steam’s built-in integrity check should resolve it. however, if reinstalling the os just to play the game doesn’t help, there might be an issue with the ssd—possibly a bad sector. this seems like a typical case of a failing hard drive sector, where a defective sector can lead to file corruption that causes errors when accessing files, even though filenames appear normal during checks. on hard drives, file indexes are usually stored in the header, not the actual data. that said, ssd bad sectors don’t exist—they’re either good or bad. if the ssd fails completely, reinstalling the os might not be an option. i’m also curious—does the game come with a hard drive or an external one? i have limited knowledge about laptops, but from what i see, this setup doesn’t seem to fit a hard drive inside. if it’s not possible, try installing other games and see if the problem continues, especially ones that load quickly, like gta.
I mentioned it before, she can run it on another PC using her account. I also noted it works with an SSD, which is the only storage device in the system. Other games are fine too. The game is installed on the SSD, and that’s why it doesn’t run Destiny under those settings. Yes, integrated graphics are involved. I should have said that earlier—just like I already did, I’ll ask her about her other games and see if any match the GTA loading time test.
