Deploy Solaris 11.2 on Poweredge 2970 servers using Windows Master via iSCSI
I possess six Power Edge 2970 servers being configured as a data storage solution, utilizing 6TB SAS storage. Five units will operate Solaris 11 via iSCSI over fiber optic connections, connecting to the Windows master server that runs indexing and analysis applications, as well as serving as the network gateway for Solaris. The Windows server will recognize Solaris instances as separate partitions, enabling efficient data transfers using the existing fiber ports (dual port, full duplex, chaining). We have Windows Server 2012 installed on the master node but are facing challenges deploying Solaris 11.2. The available files are solely VSphere OVA archives, which cannot be booted directly from BIOS. Our goal is to make Solaris the primary operating system for these additional servers without relying on virtualization or its associated licensing.
