Hello everyone,

I’m still trying to figure out how many of you have already experienced the original SYSTEM SHOCK released in 1994. I really enjoyed that title, including its sequel, System Shock 2. Reviewers praised it and called it a significant milestone in its category. It eventually made its way onto several 'hall of fame' lists.

The game achieved moderate commercial success, selling over 170,000 copies, though the project ultimately didn’t turn a profit for Looks Glass. Now, in 2023, we have a REMAKE coming out in March. In the meantime, you can try a free DEMO of this title.

If you’re interested, simply download the demo from the link below. This System Shock demo is part of "Steam Next Fest," where Valve and other developers share their creations through free demos, behind-the-scenes content, and developer talks.

Official game details:
"System Shock" is a fully updated version of the 1994 classic, merging nostalgic gameplay with modern HD graphics, refreshed controls, a redesigned interface, and new audio effects and music. It even features the original voice actor for SHODAN, one of gaming’s most memorable antagonists. Experience the revival of a landmark title that shaped the genre."

This free System Shock demo is currently available on Steam. The experience challenges you to battle the iconic AI SHODAN and her forces throughout the opening level without any limitations. If you enjoy titles like Dishonored, Deathloop, the Prey reboot, Deus Ex, or BioShock, this demo is essential to check out—each of these would not be the same today without System Shock.

This remake and its demo originate from Nightdive Studios, who have also worked on ports and remasters for QUAKE, Doom 64, TUROK, and other influential FPS titles. Absolutely!

Check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo4VV9WM...rimeMatter

You’ll immediately notice a completely new intro sequence that sets the tone for the adventure at Citadel Station. The demo also gives a sense of life in 2072 New Atlanta, showing what it was like to live there.

As you explore Citadel, you’ll find the Medical level now filled with debris and clutter, plus new enemies ready to interact. Existing enemies have improved intelligence and sound quality thanks to an AI overhaul. Old-school shooter enthusiasts will appreciate the enhanced "dismemberment tech," while new mechanics like Vending Machines, Recycling Stations, Transdermal Dispensers, and a mysterious Mod-Kit station add depth. The demo also includes better controller support.

Prime Matter announced that System Shock Remake will launch in March 2023. Following that, another exciting title is coming up—"Star Wars Jedi: Survivor." IGN shared a video with 9 minutes of gameplay from the game. It follows Cal crashing onto Koboh and seeking help to repair his ship, the Mantis.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a third-person narrative action-adventure set five years after Jedi: Fallen Order. Its cinematic combat system now includes new Force abilities and lightsaber techniques. Players can use these skills creatively to tackle a variety of enemies, analyze their strengths, and solve puzzles across an untamed galaxy filled with unique planets, challenges, and foes.

EA plans to release this Star Wars title on April 28th. The gameplay looks promising.

System Shock,
and then Half-Life
, were some of the coolest things i'd ever seen at the time.
there's been a demo out for the System Shock Remake for quite a few years now and even the little bit it offered was pretty cool if not only for nostalgia's sake.
it seems like the finished product is just taking forever. enough so that i've pretty much given up anticipating.
there's also been a lot of buzz about a Knights of the Old Republic Remake coming for 2023.
though i wouldn't be surprised if it also hangs in oblivion for quite some time.

Yeah, there are whispers about another Star Wars title arriving in 2023, though many questions remain unclear and mixed up about this potential update. There are also speculations that the project timeline has been delayed to 2024, although it’s difficult to confirm such claims. The concept of a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake appears promising on paper, but several aspects seem odd and at odds with Disney’s broader strategy for the series. Additionally, the longtime developer behind Star Wars video games, Aspyr, was actually involved in a KOTOR remake for PlayStation 5 during last September’s major PlayStation Showcase livestream, which kicked off with a mysterious trailer hinting at long-standing rumors. This situation might explain why some people are puzzled. Original KOTOR developer BioWare won’t be part of the remake, and choosing a port company like Aspyr feels somewhat unexpected. Although Aspyr has experience working on Star Wars titles, they’re mainly known for adapting existing games such as Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and the original KOTOR for Nintendo Switch, rather than crafting new content from scratch. Given the significant time span and multiple console generations between the original Knights of the Old Republic and this upcoming PS5 version, the newest KOTOR project is likely to resemble the latter more closely.

I enjoy playing looking glass. The thief of dark project and system shock 2 are my top choices ever.
bioShock serves as a spiritual follow-up, and if you’ve played system shock 2 then try bioShock, you’ll understand the connection.
many players from looking glass joined the bioShock team

Have you enjoyed BioShock Infinite? It's a solid game, but the original 2007 BIOSHOCK title is still my top choice. However, Infinite connects thematically to the first Bioshock game. The floating city of Columbia was interesting, but I didn't enjoy the gameplay and setting in BIOSHOCK 2.

Why is it so? Didn't have enough time to play this game, or for another reason?

The original game had an odd steering system that would be completely unplayable for modern players. However, the experience was really great. Even though some jump scares felt too obvious, they still gave a chill factor. And Shodan was an amazing boss. Definitely worth checking out if you missed the first version.

I don't know if I'll like or even bother with System Shock, but Jedi Survivor looks good. Now if EA can just get a bit smarter and realize there's more to be tapped in the Survival Horror genre than just doing a Remake of the original Dead Space, which seems more damage control to make up for the Anthem disaster. There's no reason with Survival Horror games as popular as they are now they can't pick up the Dead Space series where Dead Space 3 left off.
