I have replaced the HP EX900 500GB (no DRAM) with a Samsung PM981a 512GB (with DRAM). Testing on a Lenovo laptop achieved speeds near +3000MB/s. On a Dell machine I see 1700MB/s and Crystal Disk Info lists "Negotiated transfer rate - PCIe 3.0 x2". The laptop supports PCIe 3.0 x4 as advertised, and the specs confirm "Highest Possible Transfer Rate - PCIe 3.0 x4". Troubleshooting steps include switching RAID to AHCI in BIOS, reinstalling Windows 11 separately, re-seating the drive, ensuring the latest BIOS firmware, and confirming drivers are current via Dell tools. Have anyone experienced similar performance on this setup?

The SSD supports PCIe 4x, but the laptop only uses a 2x connection.
