Hello, welcome! I just purchased a Dell 7567 laptop with an I7-7700HQ processor, 1050Ti CPU, 8GB RAM, and an 1TB HDD. I added a 256GB WD SSD in the M.2 slot. I installed Windows 10 on legacy because the UEFI didn't recognize my system. I'm concerned about not matching the performance of reviewers who tested this model. My experience with Crysis 3 has been inconsistent—60fps initially, dropping to 23fps after a second, then back to 60fps at full HD. I downloaded the drivers from Dell's website and wondered what else I could do. If I plan to reinstall Windows, are there any steps I should take from the beginning?
Hello. I faced the same issue before using identical specifications, and I added a 512 GB SSD. Identifying the problem was straightforward. Execute Intel Xtreme Tuning Utility and Furmark. Begin the GPU stress test, then launch the CPU stress test in XTU and monitor for "Power limit throttling" in XTU. You’ll notice a "Yes" similar to the screenshot shown. This issue stems from bloatware named "Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Manager." Remove it and prevent reinstallation via Gpedit.exe or the registry editor after one minute of deletion. After that, you should retain the same device list as in the screenshot. Do not delete the last image shown, since removing all could still trigger throttling on your CPU (as confirmed by at least three users testing different laptops). If you don’t see "Power limit throttling" like in the first screenshot, another cause might be present—consider using MSI Afterburner with Riva Tuner and enabling OSD for CPU frequency. Watch how frequencies change when FPS drops again. If they stay stable, downgrading to Windows 10 version 1607 (Anniversary Update) could help. I’m currently on 1607 with IDPTF disabled as shown in the screenshot, using a slight undervolting of -110 mV for CPU stability via ThrottleStop. Updating again may be necessary, but you can block updates by setting your WiFi to "limited connection" or adjusting registry keys like AUOptions = 2 or 5 (search further).
Used identical laptop, enjoyed excellent thermal performance but might benefit from a lower voltage setting. Also confirmed I installed and updated my GeForce drivers.
