Constructed a fresh PC from the ground up. The sole exception was skipping a new cooler, as my previous AIO failed (later discovered). I opted for an affordable Corsair Air Cooler while browsing. It maintained idle temps under 50 and gaming temps below 80—expected behavior. I then switched to a Noctua Chromax Black Air Cooler and installed it yesterday. My idle temperature sits at 42°C, yet some games hit the 80s. Modern Warfare 2 showed lag, input delay, and stuttering. Bannerlord ran at 85°C but no delays or input issues. Anyone know what went wrong? (I've already re-applied thermal paste multiple times, reset BIOS, reinstalled games, and double-checked MSI tools. My system is powerful, but it’s not running smoothly.) Thanks!

Honestly, right away I thought it was a real facepalm, but I’m new to these forums and didn’t want to mess things up if I lost my place. Sounds like my parents with tech now! The main thing isn’t the temperature—I’ve seen many people talk about high core temps with the new processors, especially the 12900K. My concern is why games that should be easy on this machine are causing so many issues. I probably messed up somewhere, but I can’t figure it out. Thanks for checking in!

You could try restarting the cooler on your CPU and check if the issue resolves. The forum allows you to adjust the op and thread titles without any problems.

It seems the BIOS Battery Reset has resolved the issue temporarily. Odd, but worked for now. Fixed the edit—thanks!
