After the Windows update, Defender stopped working properly. It would freeze and then crash when trying to turn it back on. I thought it might be a virus, but tests with trusted tools like MalwareBytes came up clean. It could be a glitch from the update or something else entirely. I’m worried and need help right away.

Have you added another antivirus program? Only one security solution should be active at a time. Ensure Windows Defender is running. If it doesn’t resolve the issue, perform a Windows repair. Launch Command Prompt with admin privileges (Win+X or right-click Start), and choose Command Prompt (Admin). Execute the command: sfc /scannow, then press Enter. The scan may take some time; your system can remain operational during this. After completion, restart your computer. If needed, proceed with a full system reinstall for added protection.
