Good morning everyone, I just moved up to a 14700k from a 12700k. My setup is an MSI Z790 Pro with DDR4 MMO and Intel default BIOS. During Cinebench I observed temperatures reaching up to 95°C, which my 12700k never hit. The voltage spiked to 1.42V—uncertain if that’s typical. In idle it stays around 30-40°C, and during gaming it climbs to 60-70°C. I have a Corsair H150i 240mm AIO cooler; is that sufficient, or should I upgrade to a 360 AIO? Also, what other adjustments should I make to extend the CPU’s lifespan? I’m worried about potential degradation issues.

This came after the bios update. Previously I had 5.4 GHz, now it's reduced to 5 GHz.

It seems a standard 360mm AIO might struggle with a 253W load. I recommend reducing the voltage and lowering the CPU power limits.

You're starting out with this project, which is great! The default Intel settings cap your power usage at 253 watts, but you're finding it struggles to hit that limit during gaming. You might want to check if your motherboard or BIOS supports higher power limits, or consider upgrading your cooling solution to allow more efficient heat management.

To define the power cap, choose 210W to 220W for both long and short duration limits under OC\Advanced CPU settings. Ensure the core voltage is set to 1.25V in the main OC menu.

If the system becomes unstable, increase the core voltage by 0.01V until it settles. Perform a stability check such as Cinebench after each adjustment. OCCT isn't a genuine real-world test, which is why I suggest using Cinebench instead. OCCT relies on the AVX instruction set that unexpectedly reduces core clocks on my 14600KF after pushing the CPU above 5.4GHz.

I’m relying solely on OCCT for tracking temperature, consumption, power, and voltage. Cinebench is used for the actual testing.
