I attempted to start a Minecraft server and was told to use Java 7. I changed the .bat file to run with Java 7, but it broke everything and no .bat files worked anymore. Then I tried linking .bat files to cmd.exe in Control Panel, but Explorer froze. Help needed!

Change the default settings for .bat files, then execute them directly. It should launch a cmd.exe window and work with Java if enabled.

It resembles a setting in the Control Panel. If you can't access it directly, right-click the file you're attempting to open and assign it manually to cmd.exe. This is what occurs when I run my batch file: Edited November 22, 2014 by Vettexl

Thank you for your assistance. I attempted several options but ended up using a system restore point created yesterday evening, which worked well.
