Deep sleep mode for MacBook Pro 13 M1 2021 battery
Hi everyone, I recently received an MBP from 2021 that had never been used or charged. When I tried to power it on, it only worked with the charging cable connected and then it would crash and display a black screen as soon as I unplugged it. I took it to an Apple store, which told me the battery was in deep sleep mode and suggested replacing it. I’m considering the voltage might have dropped too much during storage, preventing any charging. They quoted around $300 for a replacement, but I’m not comfortable with Apple’s approach or their business practices. Do you know of any method to bypass the charge protection or manually recharge the battery by opening the case? Thanks to all!
They likely have a method to restart things, but if the cells aren't working right, it probably means damage has occurred. Fixing capacity issues might end up costing more than solving the problem.
