Hi,
My mi-box supports 5.1 surround sound via optical SPDIF output, and my Soundblaster AE-9 has an optical-in port. I can use it as a 2.0 source without issues, but the 5.1 setup sounds compressed, and this card lacks SPDIF decoding. Is there any Windows software that can decode SPDIF signals? I'm using Voicemeeter with ASIO mode enabled, so digital transmission should remain intact. I've been trying with ChatGPT for some time without success. I understand a Linux SPDIF decoder exists, but WSL doesn't integrate PulseAudio as it depends on it. My goal is to achieve 5.1 sound quality for streaming services like Netflix, HBO, and Amazon Prime in 4K resolution without needing a physical HDMI splitter or manual speaker connections.

spdif optical lacks the capability to deliver the signal uncompressed in 5.1 channels. Only 2.0 is supported. Searching online for "optical spdif bandbwidth raw 5.1" can help clarify your setup. Your configuration involves a mi-box connected via HDMI to a TV and a mi-box linked to a Spdif Soundblaster.

I understand this, this discussion doesn't require uncompressed 5.1 audio. The thread clarifies that decoding is necessary.
