Your setup had Win 11 on both your desktop and Rog Ally, with Bazzite on Ally and Debian on Desktop. Bazzite boosted Ally's speed but Debian slowed down your Desktop. You might want to check if the performance drop is due to resource allocation or configuration differences between the two systems.

I haven't used Bazzite before, but just looking at the distribution shouldn't affect performance. It might be due to older packages in Debian stable. Consider switching to the unstable branch—it's still more stable than Arch. Also, knowing your specs would be helpful. Nvidia can be tricky.

Debian focuses on long-term reliability. Gaming demands a rapidly evolving environment, so staying current is essential. Bazzite was built with gaming needs in mind. Therefore, improved performance is typically anticipated, but achieving it often requires significant modifications to Debian, making it less ideal as a starting point.

my desktop shows just a 2300g without a GPU right now. With low settings, i can hit over 60 fps in CS:GO, but at high settings it drops to around 20 fps. On Dota 2 I usually get 40 and 30 with action enabled—performance on Windows didn’t bother me.

Is it running on Windows or Bazzite? That represents a major performance drop. How is your GPU utilization? You can track it with mangohud. Also, how did you manage to install CSGO on Linux after the release of CS2? For me, the Linux branch for CSGO was incomplete. I’ve been eager to play that.

Remember that Win 11 runs at 60 frames per second with low settings, while Debian operates at 20 frames per second under high settings. I’ll experiment further and keep you posted. Just enable compatibility next time.

Searching Protondb for CS2/GO, users who use AMD graphics recommend trying the -vulkan launch for better FPS. Give it a shot just in case.
