Debian Jessie 8 issues with brightness not working.
I recently set up this Debian 8 version about five hours prior to sharing this post, dedicating those five hours to different troubleshooting approaches. It seems I’ll need to upgrade the software so it can run smoothly—maybe switching to Ubuntu 18LTS or Debian 9 would help.
Ubuntu might produce identical outcomes; consider using a Manjaro USB drive (xfce live, the most minimal), as Ubuntu could also be outdated.
Before thinking about leaving my current setup, I’ll test the Live versions of Debian 9, Ubuntu 18LTS, and CentOS. I’m sticking with LXDE since I don’t like other distributions. @LukyP I just noticed I might have no choice—my server needs libstdc++5, and I’m not sure if it’s available elsewhere except Debian or Ubuntu. I should verify if our system is modified, which might explain why we use a custom repo instead of the standard one. It’s not? I ran an MD5 check and confirmed the file sizes match perfectly—exactly what I need to address.
