Following two years of work, our cherished Debian is now officially releasedSmile. I just completed the upgrade from Jessie, and everything seems to be working well. I highly suggest Debian with Cinnamon DE!

I saved it last night and plan to install it on my laptop tonight. Is there much change in how it works? Did they resolve the issue where the installer requests the installation disk location?

I prefer Cinnamon, haven't tried Gnome... After beginning with Linux on Mint, I discovered Cinnamon's simplicity and decided to stick with Debian. Regarding the installer, I believe it still functions, yes. I've set up Debian 9 on two different machines, except for a non-free Intel Wi-Fi that wasn't part of the package. Last week I purchased a Dell Latitude E5740 i5 6440 8GB DDR4 SSD with 128GB storage and 4G Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth from February 2017 for 300€! After installing Debian on it, everything works flawlessly.
