Dead Rising 3 is available for PC gaming.
Well I got my hands on a copy of Dead Rising 3 for the PC. My rig is running on an Intel i7 4770k overclocked to 4.24GHz, Windows 8.1, and a Gigabyte OC Edition 780Ti. The typical setup amongst PC gamers. I spent about 3 to 4 hours in the game and it is an amazing port. For some reason the 30 FPS cap was taken out already after it finished installing and didn't have to change anything. I did figure out where the file was and you can change it from True to False or back to True for no cap. The game, in the highest detail settings, stays around 60fps with small drops here and there but nothing noticeable unless you're like me with FRAPS FPS counter in the corner of the screen watching every second of it. The lowest it dropped was like 53fps, and that was when a crap load of stuff was happening on screen in a wide open area like on the bridge. I use an Xbox One controller wired to my computer using the Play & Charge kit from Microsoft (which is amazing as well, very high quality). Only downfall. After playing for a few hours, now the game crashes to desktop without letting me know what the error was. I run it as administrator, changed the game to 30fps which isn't that bad to begin with, and even lowered the graphics settings. It still crashes after about an hour or so of gameplay. Pretty shitty, but I got it for free. Hopefully it will be fixed within a day or so. Capcom is really good on us PC gamers. And Dead Rising 3 sure was an amazing port. I am impressed. I really hope that Grand Theft Auto V will be an amazing port as well, and another game my 780Ti can eat up and spit out like its nothing But the amount of fun I have with this game outweighs my frustration for it crashing. I just save it every couple of minutes and go on killing rampages. It's not like Watch Dogs where it stuttered soo much it was unplayable. This game gets 10/10 from me. I hope Capcom or Steamworks, whichever patches the game, comes out with the fixes. Some people are getting load screen crashes and no starts. Luckily mine lets me play, for about an hour, then crashes to the desktop. (Including a picture I took in game showing the high level of detail. For some reason this game hates FRAPs, at least on my setup, and crashes when I try to take a screenshot in game lol.)
Before we begin, I just want to mention that an i7 and 780Ti aren’t typical configurations for gaming. What I’ve noticed is that 8320 or 4670K paired with a 770 or 290 tend to be the most popular setups.
Few gamers own i7s and 780tis. I own an i7, though for different reasons, while I have an R9 290 instead of the 780ti. It’s basically half the cost for about 15% less performance.
PC gamers who make good $$$$ then lol. I have a wife and two kids and they're more spoiled then I am Brats... I just see alot of enthusiasts with the same old i7 4770k setups. I had a 770 until it died on me. Stupid power went out here in South Korea where I'm stationed at and I left my PC on and for some reason it shorted the board or something because I went to play Dark Souls and it wasn't reading my graphics card and was defaulting to my CPU for graphics processing. SLI setups are a pain in the ass and are not worth it in the long run, since as you can see, many games do not like to play well with SLI. The 780Ti is a beast for a single GPU card and instead of adding a second one, I'll wait a couple years for like an Nvidia Titan XYZ Black Edition to come out or something. Since they want to come out with cards every year since I've been able to type on a keyboard. Well also before they were Nvidia, when 3dFx was the shit with its insane 4MB of VRAM. We can see that they can make games that rarely use the GPU to its fullest potential but still come out with crazy insane games that nobody with a decent budget can game with (cough cough, Crysis 3. Even tho I can run you at High with FXAA on, I still can't touch you in Ultra for pure 60fps gameplay).
The R9 290 is a great card, but I’ve stopped using AMD because their support was really poor. I’ll consider moving to another brand once they deliver something solid that lasts for years. I really like those Dual GPU watercooled models—they’re pretty cool. Where do you find liquid cooling options from Nvidia?
I also watched his video. He talked about Linus there, right? He was dealing with an issue with a Titan Black, which is a really powerful graphics card. Nvidia should probably keep it in the Workstation area or something because the 780Ti still performs well for gaming, at least in most cases.
finding it hard to believe you are getting constant 60fps even with ur beast rig, are you at 1080p also rendering at 1080p? everything maxed? i got a 780 overclocked quite alot and in some location it goes down to around 40-50 also TB was getting ~30 at some places, granted ur gpu is better but still double his performance, sounds weird. just a bit odd to me, but who knows maybe for some reason it works so much much better on 780 ti.
