Dead RAM or RAM slots?
Hello all,
Yesterday while turning on my PC, I saw a light flashing between the DRAM and CPU on the motherboard, with the CPU fan having trouble starting. After removing the RAM sticks and re-seating them, there was no improvement. I tried one stick in slot 2 and another in slot 4, which worked for an hour.
Today I tested different setups:
Ram stick 1
Slot 1 – CPU fan spins but no display
Slot 2 – CPU fan doesn’t spin
Slot 3 – CPU fan doesn’t spin
Slot 4 – CPU fan doesn’t spin
Ram stick 2
Slot 1 – CPU fan spins and display appears
Slot 2 – CPU fan doesn’t spin
Slot 3 – CPU fan spins but no display, red flashing between VRAM and CPU
Slot 4 – CPU fan doesn’t spin
Sticking with RAM sticks 1&3 for a few power-ups, but now the RAM won’t work in any slot, while fans spin and the PC boots.
Motherboard: B550 AORUS PRO AC Gigabyte
RAM: KLEEVS 2x16GB DDR4
Not sure what to do next
Transfer the RAM you have now to another recognized system and then check if the problem continues. Also, swap in a known working pair of RAM onto your motherboard and observe whether the issue remains.
Just a note, RAM should be placed in slots A2 and B2. You might find this helpful: https://youtu.be/JqzlKy_SGOA. Consider using the Q-Flash Plus button on the rear to try refreshing the BIOS and see if it restores your system.

After removing the RAM sticks and re-seating them, nothing happened. I tried one stick in slot 2 without success, then one in slot 4 which worked for an hour.
Today I experimented with different setups:

Slot 4 – CPU fan doesn’t spin

Slot 1 – CPU fan spins and display appears

Slot 4 – CPU fan doesn’t spin
Sticking to slots 1, 2, 3 or 4, the RAM won’t work, but fans spin and the PC powers up.
The motherboard is B550 AORUS PRO AC Gigabyte
RAM KLEEVS 2x16GB sticks DDR4
I’m not sure what to do next; I tried new RAM today a few times and it worked briefly, then stopped functioning.
