I’d choose DDR5 since it’s becoming quite competitive and will keep improving with better prices. A very inexpensive DDR5-4800 setup often matches or even lags behind a decent 3200Mhz CL14 kit, which offers solid performance for DDR4.

My main guideline is to choose a DDR5 kit whenever possible, targeting 2x16GB at 5600MT/s or higher. If staying within budget is essential, prioritize getting the system within range by opting for a faster GPU over DDR5, but if you can't afford a better CPU or GPU, go with DDR5.
