Are there DDR5 dummy modules available today? If not, could someone suggest buying surplus RAM and deliberately damaging it to use as a fake module? Alternatively, is it possible to 3D print a plastic module sized like DDR5 that fits into or covers the DRAM slots? What are people thinking about this idea? I'm curious about other potential solutions.

They're referring to a DDR5 RGB fill kit collection from v-color.

I’m not familiar with this brand, but it looks like it should match what you’re after. I have an old DDR4 setup with a Corsair dummy light kit that’s no longer working, but it seems to be from Intel.

The simplest approach is to protect the golden pads on the RAM. This is mainly for RGB lighting, but you’ll also need to cut out VCC and ground (VSS) connections. An alternative is to desolder all RAM components, though I’m unsure why you’d choose that over a reversible method. Covering the RAM slots is straightforward—even if they get dirty, they’re easy to clean with 99% isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush. If you don’t have a plug available, consider 3D printing one yourself. Some boards already include covers for USB headers, like my X58A UD3R board which still has the USB and FireWire connectors.

No difference between Intel and AMD ram, especially in dummy ram. Tho why not get another real kit of ram? I am thoroughly confused by dummy ram.

According to the website, these fake modules are compatible only with Intel processors, which is confusing for me.

It's a complete misunderstanding, right? Purchasing a DDR5 DIMM kit doesn't guarantee identical results across all CPUs.

They claim functionality depends on matching their own RAM. This might happen because RGB data travels over the same channel as SPD, making the system detect memory but not use it properly—SPD would need to match the real sticks for XMP support. It sounds more complicated than it looks... In my opinion, adding fillers doesn't make sense if they don't visually match the genuine sticks, though...

Sure, if you need every slot filled, purchasing the kit isn't significantly pricier than other RAM with similar specifications—just around $20.
