Hi everyone, I'm using Corsair Vengeance Sticks with 2x16 3200MHz RAM. I have a RYZE 7 5800X and a 4070 Super. I'm wondering if adding more RAM—like another 16 or 32GB—would really help me while just gaming. I saw some online that extra RAM is unnecessary, but I'm not sure anymore. Thanks!

Except for games that need a lot of memory, 32GB works fine.

Unless you're constantly running low on memory, extra RAM offers little benefit.

It’s simple to drop more efficiency than you improve, since using four extra sticks puts more strain on the memory controller and you might need to slow down to keep things stable.

I used 16GB for a long time. The main problem was playing Warzone while Firefox was open. Otherwise it worked fine. You have 32GB and should be okay as long as you’re just gaming—not doing heavy multitasking. I only upgraded to 64GB when I faced performance limits in programming, like running CLion with multiple browsers.

If the memory controller works well, you might see a small boost—around 1-2%—in specific games. It could be due to hardware testing rather than just software. I'm considering 64GB RAM for browser tabs, work, and gaming soon.

Using four single-rank sticks offers better performance than two at the same pace. Four sticks with 16GB each could feel challenging, or it might work. Four sticks with 8GB each seem straightforward.

We want to understand your current setup better. What are your typical system specs and what games are you playing most often? This helps us determine if you need more resources.
