I upgraded to a faster CPU and a different motherboard setup. My original processor only ran at 1333 MHz, but I managed to get it into CL7 timing mode. The change was minimal, and the performance boost wasn’t significant. If you’re considering switching to CL6, expect only a small improvement since the timings are already quite low in the presets.

I’d think the variation would be negligible when compared to upgrading the system to a newer setup, unless the machine’s workload is substantial enough for even a minor change in DDR3 to noticeably impact performance.

It's worth giving it a shot. Are you performing a stability check? I run testmem with the anta777 extreme profile, and nothing manages to clear it. It's best to do it during the night. If your system won't start, remove the battery, wait a few seconds, then reinsert it—though this will erase all your settings. Adjusting memory settings can take a while.
