Data validations fail when the workbook is shared - only accessible to one user.
Hi All,
We share an Excel file with over 20 users, and some of them tend to mess things up easily. Consequently, fields are limited to just a few predefined options—like 5 or 6 dropdowns.
One user, however, can’t see these dropdowns even when the workbook is shared. This issue started on January 1st with our "2023" release, and it’s been consistent since then.
I had him try a copy today; the only change was that I kept the workbook unshared. I hadn’t protected the sheets either.
Since this is restricted to just one person, should the problem be handled in their settings? I’m not sure what’s causing this behavior. Any advice would be appreciated?
Interesting issue at hand.
Additional resources could be useful.
Possible factors might include Data Validation.
The Microsoft link I found was helpful:

Refer to the guidance there.
Concerns about timing related to release and resumption are noted.
It seems the person might have some personal challenges.
Thanks Ralston. It is an interesting one.
Nothing jumping out at me from the links - although I am debating pulling the workbook overnight, removing the data validation and rebuilding, just to rule it in/out.
It does look to be a user issue though - as the same cells, when viewed by others, do function as expected.
Not sure about the setup of the Excel user community. Could users access the system through any existing device? Perhaps have another person log in from a different machine and review the worksheet. The goal is to see if the issue relates to user login/permissions or stays tied to the original computer.
