Hey, I’m using a wired connection with fiber and usually get speeds over 50mbps. Until recently, while playing Rocket League, the lag became really bad—it felt unplayable, ping fluctuated wildly, and there was a lot of packet loss. I thought it might be the game servers, but it’s been the same for about a month now. The next day I played Minecraft and faced the same problem; other players or mobs would freeze and then move smoothly again. I ran some ping tests from the CMD: first, I pinged google.co.uk 30 times and saw 3 out of 30 packets lost with latency between 13 and 450ms. Then I tested public DNS 8.8.8.8—6 packets dropped and latency spiked to 13-850ms. Next, I tried 1.1.1.1 with 100 pings; 14 packets were lost and latency ranged from 13 to 850ms. Finally, I pinged my router 100 times and got 8 packet losses with latency between 3 and 70ms. Then I tested my PC 50 times—no packet loss and near-zero latency. So the issue seems to be on my end, not just my ISP. I’m also running Ethernet over powerline, with my router upstairs and my PC downstairs. My PC speed dropped from 50mbps to about 10mbps, but my phone still stays around 50mbps over Wi-Fi. It’s possible the problem is between my PC and router, or maybe something else affecting my connection.

If packets are dropping to your router, the issue likely lies with your local network setup, not just your internet service provider. Consider updating the router's firmware and restarting it. It’s also possible the Powerline Adapters are contributing due to their sensitivity to interference and noise.

Yes its defo not my isp. Ive rebooted the router countless times, there doesnt seem to be anything on the routers webpage to update the firmware... as for the powerline Adapters thats my biggest suspect. but ive never had a issue before with them and it come on suddenly and hasnt gone since, like one day it just started doing this and hasnt stopped since... Edit: the hub I have is a BT Hub 5, It cannot be updated manually.

I haven't had a positive experience with this choice before. Others might, but I've faced some issues.

Link the cable straight to the router and verify functionality. A device connected to a power socket might alter the powerline's performance.

I'm having trouble with that. There aren't any phone sockets close to my PC, which makes moving the router difficult. I think the Ethernet cable might be the problem. My phone is working fine as a Wi-Fi connection while playing a game, but it sometimes drops for a moment.
