Data exchange within Homenetwork, PC and MAC systems
Hello, I attempted to send some folders—specifically movies—to my private home network. I found a guide that’s a bit outdated, but I managed to adjust the main steps it outlines. Here’s the link: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-eas...-computers. I focused on the section titled "How to Transfer Files From PC to Mac." While following the instructions, I encountered difficulties when entering the server login details on my Macbook. The system kept returning incorrect data even though I knew the correct password. I checked my Windows PC name in Control Panel to verify there were no typos. Then I revisited the Mac and tried again, but it still didn’t work. Eventually, I resolved the issue by entering my email and its linked Microsoft password instead of the usual account credentials. This allowed me to connect using the PC’s name.
As a computer scientist, I’m curious why Microsoft uses email credentials for authentication and whether it’s possible to modify this setting. Regarding the dropdown menu, it appears to display available users—typically all network members or all users on the current PC—depending on the context.
