Just played Far Cry 6 and everything went dark. Power cut? Could it damage the PC? Is it okay once electricity returns? The whole street is affected, not just my house. Do PSUs have built-in surge protectors?

Power outages can definitely damage equipment, though some components are protected. Having a UPS and surge protector as a power source is essential. Should it be fine? Likely, just wait until the electricity returns and stabilizes before turning anything back on.

We experience a power outage roughly every two years in the UK, and I haven’t seen anyone with one or even where to purchase one.

I've kept my power on since I installed my computer or upgraded it, but with costly hardware I realize it's a fairly affordable way to feel secure. I purchased mine on Amazon, though most bigger electronics stores like Best Buy only carry them in stores.

Hardware failure due to power cuts is improbable. Window damage from power cuts is more likely caused by background processes.

My old Ivy Bridge system has had the power cut to it probably 5 times in the last 3 or 4 years. Its still going strong. While there might be a chance to kill hardware, you're more likely to corrupt data, which potentially can take our your OS.
