I own this simple motherboard MSI B450 Pro M2 V2. It doesn’t have any heatsink on the VRMs. I purchased it for a Ryzen 1600 and it was affordable enough for that chipset. However, after upgrading to the 2700X, my VRM temps kept climbing past 100°C sometimes reaching over 120°C even with PBO enabled in BIOS. The system auto-adjusted, but I realized it wasn’t ideal for long-term use since I do rendering work that demands stable cooling. To address this, I added an old P4 chipset heatsink. I’ll walk through the steps in the video below.
