Hey everyone, I really hope you have the time to read this. I’m trying to stay calm despite how much frustration this situation has caused me.

Here’s what my setup looks like:
- 990xa ud3 r5 rev 1
- 8320E CPU - 212 evo
- 2x4 gb 1600
- Corsair vs550 PSU
- 760 GTX windforce
- SSD kingston A400
- WD HDD

I’m using this for gaming, and all the adjustments I made were just to boost FPS in games like LoL, BDO, GTAV, and AC Origins. This year I was saving up to fix what I thought was holding me back, but later realized the same problems still occur.

My main issues are:
- FPS drops
- In BDO and AC Origins I experience frequent FPS drops even with average specs
- When I lower graphics in those games, performance doesn’t change
- RAM OC and stability tests didn’t affect anything

Any help would be really appreciated.

4.2/4.3/4.4/4.5/4.6ghz isn't a big deal with an FX chip.
Performance gains between those speeds are minimal.
The issue lies in the boundaries of your existing setup.
You're using a mid-range CPU from 2012 and a mid-range GPU from 2013.
This level of performance is normal considering your system's specifications and age.
Set your display to 50Hz, turn on adaptive VSync, adjust graphics settings to medium, and run content at 50fps.
That should keep things running smoothly without visible frame drops.

I think you've pushed your system to its limits. The next option is either upgrade to a modern CPU, which will be expensive, or consider a used Z97 Mobo with an i5-4xxx or i7-4xxx processor. This way, you can retain your RAM while only changing the motherboard and CPU.

I'm also thinking about getting a better cooler and possibly boosting it to 4.6+, which would save money but might be disappointing if it doesn't justify the upgrade.

Updated: I increased the FSB speed slightly and it seems to be performing better now. Update#2: it's not.
