Currently not functioning properly with timing issues
I just received this RAM model from Amazon. It isn’t displaying the expected timings in cpuz. The product was meant for JEDEC rating and shouldn’t need any overclocking or XMP settings to reach its advertised speeds. My 21 Zephyrus G15 doesn’t let me modify BIOS settings like a desktop would. Do you know how to achieve the correct performance at rated speeds? I’ve attached screenshots from cpuz showing the part number with the proper timings. It should be running at CL18 and CL22, but the speed is still at 3200MHz. I bought it because it’s dual-rank and CL18, and it should have been one of the fastest DDR4 options for a laptop. Now I feel like I’m being shortchanged.
8gb is permanently attached to the motherboard. 24gb should work well, and it often runs faster than the original 16gb in specific tasks based on my research. The first 16gb will operate with dual channels, while the remaining 8gb will use a single channel when required.
I saved zentimings and it works properly when I choose the 16GB drive. The 8GB one is running at cl22, which is typical. It seems CPUZ and HWinfo64 are getting timing data from the soldered RAM, not the extra stick.
