Hello. I haven't kept up with Escape From Tarkov's updates, but many YouTubers have covered it. Are they selected to test, or is the alpha/beta accessible?

The game is presently in extended Alpha; Beta is just around the corner. You might purchase it right away, but it usually requires $150 to enter the alpha version. Some of the more affordable editions could grant access, or you can hold off until Beta arrives. I’d prefer to wait now, since there’s still significant development work left before it’s finished.

I'm really disheartened with them. It's a total letdown.

I have some friends who are currently testing things out. They’re pretty costly and seem to be using a lot of resources. I think it’s better to hold off until prices drop.

They clarified the game isn't P2W and explicitly denied any microtransactions. Paying extra unlocks temporary perks, which doesn't make sense as a permanent way to win. This approach seems confusing and frustrating.

Exploring the game more deeply, I find it quite appealing. It offers a solid initial stash if you opt for the "paid to win" option... Yet even then, the loot can be obtained through exploration and isn't exclusive to that package. Ultimately, you start strong, but that doesn’t guarantee victory in the gunfights or survival in battles. Plus, losing means losing everything you paid for if you don’t keep it. So yes, you’re taking a chance when choosing that package.

We'll check it out. It might not be as intense as in other games, but I notice red when seeing realmoney perks (is that a term?)
