Hey! Just set up Win8 on my spare laptop to test it out. I checked the app store for a Win8.1 update, but when I tried to install it, the updates didn’t appear and some failed during installation. The MS website mentions a few issues, but I’m not sure what to do next. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jem

All Windows updates must be applied to view Windows 8.1. You’re encountering an error? Try the Windows Update troubleshooter: press Win+W, type “troubleshooting,” select it, and follow the instructions. If updates are installed but not visible, assume your Windows 8 is genuine, activated, and drivers are up-to-date. Ensure the Device Manager shows no issues. Launch Task Manager, confirm the Windows 8 App Store isn’t active. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32 and run WSReset.exe. If the store reappears, proceed. Restart your PC, verify all updates are present, and reinstall the Windows 8 App Store. Before upgrading to Windows 8.1, remove any security software you’ve installed, as some programs may block updates or interfere during the process.
