Hey everyone, I just went through some troubleshooting on The Last of Us. The advice about pagefile size seems to suggest adjusting your RAM and pagefile settings for optimal performance. With 32GB of RAM, a 96GB pagefile might sound excessive, but it could be beneficial depending on your system load. I’ve noticed that many games now take up around 50GB or more, so managing storage can be tricky. Your SSD is full of games, which makes deleting them frustrating. Let me know if this tip applies to your situation!

It appears you're questioning the advice about RAM and page file size. The suggestion to go beyond 3x your RAM isn't a valid recommendation. Having fewer resources forces more reliance on the page file, which can slow things down. Check if the error code is genuinely pointing to a need for more storage or if it's just a warning.

The TLOU PC port is really poor, especially if you're using 32GB of RAM while playing. I’d strongly suggest getting your money back from the game.

No error codes appear visible; I'm experiencing many crashes now. I'm trying random actions since the usual fixes didn't help. Perhaps enabling the crash logging feature could provide more insight. The main issue remains the PC port—other than slow performance, which is why I got a 2k€ PC. It's not a terrible port, but the crashes are the real problem.

Played smoothly across the entire game with 32GB of RAM. You won’t have to tweak the default Windows page file settings just to run it—this is much better than what you’d expect. There might be another issue with your PC if you’re running low on storage; I’d suggest fixing that.

I always keep 50+GB but this time I had 120 (on a 1TB SSD), I think it's fine, no? I have seen lots of reports of the game still crashing on the latest patch (1.1.0), but also lots of other reports of it having fixed stability issues... I seem to be in the minority though. Every other game runs fine so I have no idea what the problem could possibly be. It only crashes in specific areas, and disabling SSAO for some reason (just that setting) multiplies the amount of time before I see a crash by at least 10. However, even going very low + capping fps at 60 + downscaling res does not help further than disabling SSAO already does. Anyways I'm off-topic now, but thanks for the help guys

The default pagefile size is three times the amount of RAM. I saw this in Windows 11 after upgrading from Windows 10. When I was on Windows 10, it was set to about 1.5 times the RAM size. I kept it unchanged after installing a large NVMe drive before switching to Windows 11, and there’s plenty of space since most apps are on the system drive.

I attempted to use the pagefile trick but didn’t see any improvement. I returned to the standard settings. I installed version 1.0.5 but it still crashed. Disabling XMP didn’t help either. Graphics performance is poor—ultra mode crashes in about 30 seconds, while SSAO improves a bit but adds a minute or two. The more I perform actions, the higher the chance of a crash, which seems odd. When using a bomb and aiming, it feels like too many actions are causing instability. The error code 0x80000003 appears in the event viewer, unrelated to Rebar as some discussions claimed. Rebar seems neither helpful nor harmful in BIOS or AMD settings. Right now I’m stuck and just rely on autosaving, moving slowly to avoid another crash while hoping it doesn’t happen again.

I possess 32GB of RAM and no pagefile available. Performance is excellent.
