Hey there! I’m putting together a brief overview of the WWII Beta so far, and if you’re considering getting it or preordering when it’s done, let’s clarify a few points first. This version is open to everyone! You don’t have to preorder just to play. The beta runs from September 29th to October 2nd. Only multiplayer is available at the moment. Campaign and Nazi Zombies will hit the market on the official launch date, November 3rd. When you first launch the game, you’ll face a brightness test—adjust the bar until you can barely see the medals. Afterward, you’re likely removed from the game for an update to be deployed (not on Steam). Once that’s done, click Start Game. I’m not sure about the next steps beyond that, but it seems you’ll need to pick a division (like Infantry for beginners).

In terms of gameplay, there are several modes: Team Deathmatch, Demolition, and War and Mosh Pit (possibly another mode). The new War mode is story-focused, requiring teamwork to overcome enemies. You’ll find yourself in classic WWII settings—bunkers, trenches, and ruined battlefields. A variety of original Call of Duty weapons have returned, including the STG-44, MG42, and M1911 (though it’s listed as a 1911 due to licensing). Movement is similar to previous titles, with options like sneaking, sprinting, and bayonet charges. There’s no matchmaking system currently, so you’ll be matched against higher-level players. The environment is free from modern tech like jetpacks or ultimates—just classic WWII action.

I’m really enjoying this experience. Even with just about an hour and a half of playtime, the nostalgia from World at War is incredible. Most weapons haven’t been fully unlocked yet, but progress won’t be saved to the launch game. If you’re curious, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!

I haven’t tested the beta yet, but I’m curious about any updates to the requirements compared to the earlier version.

I appreciated the Beta experience. CoD has always been my favorite way to pass time, especially when I need something engaging. Returning to WWII felt smart given how crowded the futuristic FPS scene had become.

I've tried running it once and Windows would make a noise every time I pressed a key. After a while, it would crash. Then, after a few minutes, a window would appear warning that the game was using too much RAM. I didn’t notice much at first, so I kept playing, but soon it crashed again. When I tried to open Steam, it also crashed. I opened Task Manager to close things, but it didn’t work. Everything turned black except for the cursor. I didn’t want to force restart, but that didn’t help either. Seriously, what is this game? It doesn’t have any graphics settings. I saw someone using a modern red dot sight—actually it was yellow. This game seems to be from the World War II era. The bullet paths look like they’re from a game made ten years ago.

I also experienced the Windows sound and crash issue (not related to Task Manager). There are graphics settings available—just scroll down. At first I assumed they weren’t there, but you just need to give it a try. I believe some enhancements would be beneficial, especially since this is Multiplayer mode, which is often the least enjoyable part of Call of Duty.
