CSGO poor performance
CSGO poor performance
Hello everyone,
I’m facing a couple of unusual issues lately in CSGO.
First, my performance is quite low on a powerful PC (1080p). Even with all settings at their maximum, I usually see around 120-170fps during gameplay, though I occasionally reach over 200fps when standing or in certain areas. Reaching 144fps is still my goal, but the frequent swings are bothersome. For my PC, I expect a steady 144+ fps consistently, yet these fluctuations make it hard to meet that target. Even if I’m getting a similar number of frames, it doesn’t explain why the performance drops so much.
Additionally, lowering the settings or setting them all low makes things worse, with almost no improvement in FPS. I’ve checked my NVIDIA settings but found nothing changed.
For instance, yesterday I played Doom Eternal with nearly constant 135-150fps after applying the highest settings.
Any suggestions?
csgo is CPU dependent for achieving high FPS, possibly due to background applications affecting performance. It might also involve security settings activated in BIOS or Windows. Let's begin with userbenchmark to assess your PC's current state. After completing the test, a web page will display results—please copy the URL from the address bar and share it here.
Everything sounds correct. CS GO mainly depends on the CPU, particularly when using a powerful GPU such as the 1660. This implies that reducing game settings won’t boost FPS because your performance will be constrained by the CPU’s maximum output.
FPS in games varies based on the situation, and there can be large changes from one map to another.
I don’t think there’s anything fundamentally wrong with the performance you’re experiencing.

Sorry for the slow reply, I don't receive notifications? Here are the results you asked for.

It seems there might be an issue with missing SSD, but the performance looks okay.
I ran GTA V yesterday and only managed around 70 fps with normal/high settings. CPU usage stayed at about 60% most of the time.
Nvidia optimization usually sets my maximum settings for almost all games, which is the same for GTA.
I'm a bit disappointed with CSGO, especially since many people can hit 200fps without much effort. Is 4C/4T really that bad?
it looks good
i wouldn't waste time on GTA5 if you're getting 60fps+, it's an older title, but you can find video below for settings to achieve 100fps+ performance
here are some random YouTube links showing results with i5-7400 and your GPU setup, cpu clocked at 3.3GHz is just a few MHz short of what you have

you'll notice about 1% low drops to around 74fps when using the GPU at 50% load
4x/4t works fine for CS GO since the game requires only 4t, but it implies those components are running on Windows while other apps operate simultaneously. Including i5 7500 cores offers average performance at launch; newer chips often feature higher clockspeed and IPC, which can boost gaming performance.
There are numerous adjustments and techniques you can apply to boost your CSGO performance without incurring costs. However, given the variety available, it’s advisable to look for a guide covering optimal Nvidia CP choices, power plan options, launch settings, and more, to achieve the best FPS. If you prefer investing, consider purchasing a new CPU.
