This only occurs with CSGO! It really drains my CPU power. Is everyone else experiencing the same high CPU usage in CSGO, or is it just normal? *My second low-end rig (core duo) works fine, but the game is laggy and bottlenecks video quality.*

Your display refresh rate is what I use? Are these adjustments tied to your monitor's refresh speed? If yes, both will improve performance but also raise CPU demand. Consider setting all graphics options to their highest level to maximize GPU strain. Have you used CS:GO’s built-in FPS limiter? You can input a higher fps number in Steam’s launch settings. If the GPU is limiting performance, CPU usage won’t reach 100% since rendering isn’t fast enough. Your system should run at full capacity if possible—no issue there. It’s perfectly fine for a game to utilize 20-50% of your CPU; the goal is to use as much processing power as it can handle. If CS:GO can achieve 100% usage on a Ryzen R9 5950X with 16 cores, then a 8-core processor at 50% will reach its full potential. This behavior is entirely normal.

Your monitor maintains a stable 2560x1440 at 74Ghz, yet SCGO reports only 50FPS. For example, Destiny runs smoothly at 74fps. What’s your CPU usage? In short—your rig is performing just fine. The issue seems unrelated to the game itself. Do you notice any unusual sounds while playing?

Users are assisting by clarifying how hardware functions and urging calm. If the issue isn’t real, you’ll likely get little assistance. This community won’t offer tips on slowing down gaming performance without a reason. They’re unlikely to give advice on harming your system’s performance for no good reason. Understanding your tone helps those who’ve seen many similar discussions about hardware limitations.

Thanks for the clarification. Just wanted to bring this to your attention without any tension. The CPU did start thermal throttling right away, causing a drop in clock speed for a short period. Surprisingly, after about one minute of normal operation, it returned to the main menu again—only when using the SC GO termothr1.wmv. No drama, just a quick issue.

We're not sure since you haven't shared the details. Thermal throttling isn't related to this; it depends on your cooling system. Are you using a cooler that's at 105°C with only 6% usage? That’s concerning because the PC would likely shut down to protect itself. The main issue is reaching high temps even at low load and high fan speeds. Are you sure your cooler is installed correctly, is it applying thermal paste properly, and is there enough space for heat dissipation?

tikker, where did you see 105 at 6% load? cpu cools down smoothly, i9-9900K base clock 3.6GHz - my settings 5.0GHz - and max temp 105 in BIOS - picture AIO CoolerMaster with 280 rad on the top of the case. AGAIN: it happens only when I run CSGO, no issues with multiple tabs, video, or anything else, just scFgo

Did you restrict your game windows to 30 frames? Checking the CPU load will show you how much performance is used. To prevent CSGO from running at full CPU capacity, you should cap the frame rate.

Same as before, no changes in Autostart or Console settings—just from 50 to 120 FPS possible, while CPU remains at 100%.
