Hello, I understand this might not be the right spot. One year ago I assembled a gaming PC with the goal of playing games. I purchased an i9-10900K and an RTX 3060 (12GB VRAM). Over time I’ve kept using it. CS2 was released recently and I’ve been enjoying it, though my frame rates are lower than I hoped, typically between 120 and 180 FPS, especially when there’s a lot of action or smoke on the screen. I’m playing on an ultrawide 21:9 display at 3440x1440 resolution, and my 16:9 monitor gives around 140-200 FPS at 2560x1440. I’ve heard CS2 can be CPU-dependent, but I also know the i9-10900K is strong—just not as fast as newer chips. I’m using top settings except for anti-aliasing, and I disabled that to avoid lag. My aim is to keep the game running at 144Hz or higher on my monitor. I wanted to ask if anyone with a similar configuration experiences similar performance, or if something is affecting my results. I’ve also noticed some people say this build isn’t up to par, but I’m still curious about what’s going on.

CS:2 requires higher graphics performance, making your RTX 3060 insufficient for that quality. Reduce the settings to improve results.

I have a comparable setup with 12600kf and an RTX 3070 fe (only 8GB VRAM). At 1440p I’m seeing around 120-220 FPS, and I need a steady 175Hz refresh for my monitor. From other discussions I read, it seems developers should focus more on optimizations. Upgrading might help, but it could be worth the investment.

Here’s a concise summary of your situation:

You're using an MSI MMO motherboard with a BIOS setting that boosts performance, which causes a slight overclock. This results in around 200 FPS on most maps (over 300 on Vertigo). You're considering testing it if you have comparable hardware to see if it improves performance.
