I recently installed a new CPU and graphics card (i7 4770k and RTX 2070) and started playing Cities Skylines to check performance. I only managed around 70 FPS, dropping to about 50 on medium settings. Neither my CPU nor GPU is running at full capacity. I’ve updated the drivers and Rainbow Six Siege is running at 144fps. Could it be that my RAM might be the issue? I have 16gb DDR3-1600 in dual-channel.

Isn't Skylines challenging to run smoothly on many systems because it doesn't optimize well?

From what I've observed, Cities seems oddly well-organized, so honestly, I wouldn't bother worrying about it in that game.

Cities Skylines is extremely well optimized. Be grateful you achieve over 60 FPS.

I got the same fps with my old 1050ti and i5 4460S so im assuming there is a limitation in C:S' code itself?

The CPU's clock speed affects FPS in that game. It doesn't depend on the GPU, unless you're using a very poor system like a GT 710. In big cities, even a 5ghz processor with a 9900k clock speed usually can't maintain over 60 FPS.

Are you working with a fully realized metropolis or a new map/compact settlement?
No matter the choice, FPS will remain consistently challenging in that game.
