I was taking out the Wraith Prism cooler while watching a tutorial to remove it. However, the CPU popped up with the cooler and seems stuck, as if it’s super glued to the processor. This is my AMD Ryzen 7 2700x and Wraith Prism cooler. Note: I’ve had this PC since January 2019, and the thermal paste that came pre-applied on the cooler is still there.

Manipulate it carefully, avoid bending the pins too much. Rotate it extensively; eventually it should release. Be cautious. Then test whether it reinserts smoothly without the locking bar in place. If not, inspect for bent or absent pins.

Hold the sides of the CPU with your fingers and gently shake it off. Apply pressure slightly, then adjust direction, rinse, and continue the process.

Suggest using a hair dryer to heat the paste, then carefully remove it. Be cautious as it may split unexpectedly if the thermal paste is too cold. Always perform a 5-10 minute CPU stress test before taking it out.
