This is unrelated to the main subject since the problem is solved. The reason I wanted to overclock was because after upgrading, my GPU keeps reaching 84c temperature and using 99% of its capacity. That definitely shouldnāt happen all the time? I didnāt have software to check beforehand, so I couldnāt compare. Iām also doing some CPU overclocking via BIOS, but Iām not sure it will impact the GPU.

And 99% usage depends on the game, 84c is a bit high but it might depend on the 1080 model, your room temperature, cooling setup, and CPU overclocking status.
Thanks for the updates. I've recently upgraded the entire system, adding a motherboard power supply, CPU, cooling solution, and fans. On the i7 6700k I installed Corsair H200i liquid cooling without the original fans; instead, I used Corsair SP120 fans to manage heat from the radiator. Since I didnāt handle the build myself, it was completed by a tech expert who visited my place. The case offers excellent airflow, and the CPUs stay cool, reaching only around 50°C. The GPU fan reaches 70% at 86°C and full speed during heavy use. I notice hot air escaping through the side vents near the GPU, which is where the GPU is mounted. The fan settings in Afterburner are set to auto, and my Gigabyte G1 GTX1080 is running games like Homefront 2 and Rise of the Tomb Raider.
You're likely reaching the boundaries of your GPU's capabilities. The 86C temperature is quite high, so I wouldn't attempt to go further. Still, it should handle 1080p and even a decent amount of 4K gaming without any issues.
consider the possibility of a Corsair H100i, but I don't think they offer a 200i model. The 86C tends to have excellent cooling for high-end GPUs. However, if the room temperature is very high, it could impact the GPU's performance. For instance, at an ambient temperature of 22°C or 70°F, you'd likely see about a 10°C drop compared to the 86C.
It seems the games are running smoothly at both 1080p on the monitor and 4k on the projector. I'm concerned about constant high usage and potential overheating, not power limitations. I've adjusted fan curves in Afterburner to increase fan speeds for current temperatures. I'll monitor the results over the next day. If it doesn't improve, I'll set the system fans to run even faster. When using Windows without games, temperatures stay around 40°C. My old motherboard fans were off at about 32°C, but that was before then.
I'm still wondering if something might be affecting the air flow in your system, possibly leading to a hot spot on your graphics card. However, regarding long-term performance, the GPU should handle up to 86°C peak temperatures. It would be better to reduce it, but it's not at risk until it reaches or exceeds 100°C. The main worry about increasing fan speeds is that they could wear out, requiring replacement of either the fans or the graphics card coolerāboth of which aren't particularly exciting tasks.
