Hi experts,
I’m setting up a new PC for video editing and mostly use Premiere Pro, with occasional use of After Effects and Photoshop. A friend recommended a component list that fits within a $1200 budget, with room to add $100 if needed.
The suggested parts are: Intel i7 12700F, Gigabyte B660M DS3H AX, Gigabyte RTX 3060, Crucial DDR4 16*2, Crucial 500 GB NVME M.2, 2 TB WD hard drive, 650 WT power supply, and MasterBox K501L ARGB.
Is this a solid configuration? Please give your thoughts.

Here are more details about that power supply than "WT".
Regarding the Crucial SSD, I’m looking for a specific model. For the RAM, I need to know the exact Crucial variant.
There’s no reference to a CPU cooler; a stock solution might suffice, depending on your concern about temperatures and fan noise.
Spinning hard drives are generally unnecessary at this price point. You can pick either one drive or two, and a backup drive could be useful.
Unless cost is a big issue, I’d skip F processors since they lack built-in video support, which can be useful in some cases.
The decision on the case wasn’t random—it had a particular reason, though I’m not sure what it was.
The motherboard looks fine, but it’s from Gigabyte’s lineup. You might want to upgrade to Aorus or consider MSI.

Thank you for your reply. I have limited experience with PC builds, so I'm unsure which RAM or SSD to choose. I appreciate any suggestions you can offer. Your advice on the hard drive is good, and I'll think about it. The case selection was just a guess, and I'd really appreciate help with the motherboard. Thanks again.

Also, I'm not focusing on the cooler right now. I'll consider the stock and buy later when I have funds.

Premiere Pro will fully utilize your GPU during extended rendering sessions and put a significant strain on the CPU. Install a robust cooler for the CPU and ensure proper airflow in your case to dissipate heat from the GPU. I work with M.2 NVMe drives for Windows, Adobe applications, and scratch files, while using hard disks for long-term storage.

Puget Systems recommends 32GB RAM for 1080p video work in Premiere Pro. 64GB is preferable for 4K (UHD) projects. Processing 6K or 8K videos demands 128GB RAM. If you're handling 4K content, a 2 x 32GB configuration is advisable.

I appreciate the assistance. Thank you for reaching out.
Some parts aren't available in my region. Would it be possible to use Corsair or G Skill for RAM? If yes, which model would you prefer?
For the GPU, I'm considering the Gigabyte 3060 12 GB.
Regarding the motherboard, should I go with the ASROCK Z690 PRO RS or the ASROCK Z690 STEEL?
Best regards,
Nishu

Both G Skill Ripjaws and Corsair Vengeance should be acceptable.

Thank you all for the suggestion. I truly value your time.
I visited the shop to purchase the necessary parts. The staff recommended some adjustments based on current market availability.
Processor - Intel i7 12700K
Mainboard - Asus/Gigabyte B760 AC DDR5
Graphics Card - Gigabyte 3060 12 GB
RAM - Crucial DDR5 (4800) x2, 16 GB each
SSD - Crucial 1 TB
Power Supply - Cooler Master 650 wt.
CPU cooler - still to decide
Do these selections work well? I’m worried about compatibility between the RAM and motherboard.
Thank you for your assistance.
