I’m compiling a list of parts needed for my build. So far, I haven’t locked onto any platforms yet. My focus is on finding the best CPU/Motherboard deals. On the Intel side, I’m considering the i9-9900KS with the Z390 chipset. For AMD, I’m thinking the 3900X paired with the X570 chipset. I’m wondering if it’s worth starting to check brands and prices for RAM now. It seems both platforms should support DDR4-3600 or possibly DDR4-3200. Since I tend to buy on sale, I’d love to snag a good deal on RAM while deciding on the CPU/motherboard combo. I’m eyeing the G.Skill Trident or Corsair Vengeance series, but a solid price could sway my choice too. I’m hoping for CL16 or higher specs. I already have a 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe drive and expect to get the Lian Li Lancool II case next week. My goal is a Nvidia 2070 Super GPU, though I haven’t picked a specific brand yet. I’m aiming for something around $500. My budget is tight, especially since I haven’t played PC games in a while. My current rig is an old Duo Core Q9650 with an Nvidia 470, and the PSU is over ten years old. I’m leaning toward replacing it with a newer unit if possible, but I’m unsure how long it will last. I’m weighing the newest Corsair AX850 against other options. For cooling, I’m considering either a Corsair AIO or a Noctua model. The biggest hurdle is picking a monitor—something with 144Hz or higher and 1440p resolution would be ideal, but I’m still weighing pros and cons. Ugh... Apart from the RAM question, any other component thoughts would be helpful. P.S. I’ve been gaming for longer than some of you, so my top pick has always been Unreal Tournament 2004, though I’ve got many favorites now. Looking forward to playing online with you soon. I believe the top options currently available at ATM with solid performance are these, particularly for Ryzen models. Prices for GPUs and CPUs are expected to rise soon, likely starting in March.
I believe these options could work but come at a high cost... I need assurance that whatever I purchase will function with both Intel and AMD boards. I don’t want to spend an unreasonable amount just for top performance. I’d prefer to buy before prices rise too much. Perhaps wait until I decide on the motherboard. Can I be sure about this?

I’m confident the Trident Z Neo could fit. I’m not too fond of their appearance, but I might not notice the white during installation. I’ll look up examples to see real-world usage.
I feel overly cautious about every decision right now. This market offers so many choices, yet it’s hard to predict how well they’ll work. I’m unsure if my age will affect this choice. Both Intel and AMD have advantages and drawbacks, but the sheer variety of motherboards is overwhelming...
32gbs provides enough space without being excessive. The operating system will actually require more memory than the task manager suggests. A smarter upgrade would have been 128gb, a 100gb RAM drive, a Windows 10 virtual machine for games, and so on. Of course, that’s overkill—but it could be an interesting project.
