Creating a $2500 Canadian gaming setup
Creating a $2500 Canadian gaming setup
Hi everyone, I'm currently running a build from 2014 (thanks to this forum), and although it has worked well so far, I'm starting to need to reduce the settings more often. Some newer games aren't even playable anymore. I'm looking for an option that lets me run current titles at fairly high settings for a longer period before they stop working.
Approximate purchase date: I can begin shopping right now, though it's not an urgent need if there are any sales or new parts coming out soon.
Budget: Around $2500 CAD is what I'm targeting. If it fits a bit more and offers great value, I'm open to it.
Usage priority:
Gaming is the top priority. Besides that, everyday tasks, web browsing, maybe light software development—generally not demanding, usually on other machines.
Monitor situation:
Not right now. I just bought a used 4k monitor for almost nothing. I might upgrade later if it has a higher refresh rate.
Upgrade needs:
No plans to replace any components yet—they're all quite old.
OS purchase:
No need.
Preferred parts sources:
No specific preference, as long as they ship or are available in Toronto.
Location:
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Preferences:
I'm more comfortable with Nvidia graphics cards but not locked into them. I'm open to any reputable brand.
Overclocking:
Not necessary unless required.
SLI or Crossfire:
No unless it's essential.
Monitor specs:
Primary is 4k with a secondary 1080p monitor. I might upgrade eventually, possibly to a higher refresh rate like 2k, but this isn't set in stone yet.
Additional notes:
Just need games to run smoothly on Steam and similar platforms without issues. Most importantly, why am I doing this upgrade? My 2014 build is nearing the end of its life, so I want to be able to play new releases comfortably at reasonable settings.
Thanks a lot for your help—I really appreciated this forum when I was working on my last build.
This card (4070 Ti) is more or less geared for gaming at 1440 / 2K. The 120mm fan goes inside the back of that case for a rear exhaust fan. btw you want to use Windows 11 with these Intel 13 gen cpu's.
