Hi everyone, thank you ahead of time. I'm looking to purchase a new PC to use with the i9-14900KS. My work involves CFD simulations using STARCCM, Fluent, SolidWorks, CATIA, SketchUp, rendering in Lumion and V-Ray, etc. Some of my friends recommend the i9-14900 or i9-14900K. I appreciate your suggestions and hope you can help me choose suitable components for building my new PC. Thanks.

Start here: *How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice* How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice First off, respect where respect is due - this is an adaptation of the Animal's *How To Ask For New Build Advice* Sticky. I created this because there's a lot of posts nowadays asking for upgrade advice both on here and on the CPU forums, and I feel... forums. Give responses, post in the Systems Forum.

Avoid purchasing a 13th or 14th generation Intel CPU due to known hardware issues. Consider exploring their latest Ultra processors or the AMD 9000 lineup.

Thank you. The AMD 9000 series looks good for your needs. I also recommend considering a suitable motherboard.

It is "OK" but what's your budget ? Actually all or OK (meaning that SW would work on them) but for professional use there is AMD Threadripper series, specifically for those jobs.

My budget is up to $2110 (INR Rs 185300). I would like to prefer the AMD Ryzen 9000 series.

I recommend checking which CPUs perform well with the software you plan to use. Consider whether it needs more RAM, faster storage, or GPU offloading. The 9900x offers 12 cores and 24 threads, though an Intel Ultra CPU might be better in certain cases. Unless everyone uses the same software and has already found what works best, you’ll likely get general advice for a good PC rather than the optimal setup for your needs.

I operate in a CNC environment where we utilize Soildworks, Siemens NX, and Fusion 360.

During previous tests with resolutions of 3600x, 7950x, and 14700k, all three systems ran on identical GPUs, Asus motherboards, G.skill RAM (DDR4 for the 3600x), and consistent speed and timing settings. Each trial showed the 14700k performing best.

Following advice from VizzieTheViz, I reached out to the software developers to inquire about their hardware recommendations. Many provided suggested configurations on their websites. After evaluating our setup, we selected:
i7 14700k
Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120
Asus Prime Z790-a
g.skill 6400MT/s CL32 64GB
Samsung 990 Pro nvme
Corsair RM750x
PNY Quadro RTX A4500
NZXT H5 Flow

The apps you mentioned usually require a lot of CPU power and are mostly single-threaded. The i9-14900KS should perform well in this regard. The ultra9-285K would be similar. For reference, here is the cpu-Z single-thread benchmark for the 14900KS along with some closely matching processors.
