Create a PC setup under $1000?
Hey,
I want to build a new pc but I have a hard time deciding on which parts to choose.
The new pc will have some donor parts from my current pc.
All information is listed below.
I gratefully appreciate every reply.
Approximate Purchase Date:
My pc current pc was bulid in 2018.
Current pc:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3JQh2V
Budget Range/Location:
My budget is around 1000$. Won't matter if it's a bit more or less.
My location is Denmark. (won't mind buying from european stores)
System Usage from Most to Least Important:
gaming, surfing the internet, watching movies, homework
Are you buying a monitor:
No
Parts to Upgrade:
From my current pc there is a few parts which I think I will reuse to save some money for the budget.
The parts I will reuse are the following:
HDD: Seagate barracuda st1000dm010
NVMe SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus MZ-V7S500BW 500 GB
CPU cooler: Corsair H100i PRO RGB
Not sure about reusing the cooler. It runs fine but it's still 7 years and counting, so might be wiser to change it.
Below I have listed the new parts which i'm currently thinking the new pc would consist of but I would really appreciate some opions on the bulid or suggetions on what to change:
Motherboard
: Asrock B650M-HDV/M.2 Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard
Was recommened by Techspot as the best entry option.
GPU
: RX 9060 XT 16 GB (PowerColor Radeon RX 9060 XT Reaper - 16GB GDDR6 RAM) or RX 7800 XT (PowerColor RX 7800 XT - 16 GB GDDR6 RAM)
I can't really decied on which one to choose. The 9060 is about 100$ cheaper in my country.
I know it's not as powerfull as the 7800 XT but who knows how big of an impact FSR4 will have on the performance for future games.
CPU
: AMD Ryzen 7600x
RAM
: G. SKill Flare X5 DDR5 - 6000 - 32 GB: 2 x 16 GB - CL36
I'm not so sure on the ram. Don't know if I even need 32 GB or what to go for while still staying the budget.
PSU
: Thermalright TG (Modular) 750W - 80 plus gold.
The PSU is probably the part which i'm most unsure about. I don't really know that to go for. Seems like PSU's are quiet expensive in Denmark.
Case
: Phanteks XT Pro. I know it comes with out case fans but I will reuse from my current case (NZXT S340)
PCPartPicker list:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2PJ3XR
I don't really have any part preferences.
Do you need to buy OS:
No (Free acces to Windows)
Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
Don't have any preferred websites but proshop.dk seems to have the best prices.
Overclocking:
No / Maybe
Multiple GPUs:
No
Monitor Resolution:
1920x1080. I might want to upgrade to 1440p in the future if the pc can handle it.
Additional Comments:
Type of games im playing.
Different racing games, FPS, Single player, multiplayer games.
And of course GTA 6 when it's released at some point. I want the pc to able to handle GTA 6 with decent grapichs settings.
Why Im Upgrading:
My current pc is getting old. I still rely on a 1060 6GB and it's starting to struggle in newer games. Grapichs have to be set to low or maybe medium at most games.
I'm begging to struggle with minor issues a lot more often. I think after 7 years it has done is job well and now it's time for an upgrade.
That psu will suffice just fine. You want DDR5-6000 CL30 for these AM5 cpu's if you intend on gaming seeing how games benefit from low latency RAM. Yeah, the budget is quite tight. I considered adding a CORSAIR RMx PSU, but they cost over 1000kr.

If your budget is tight, consider upgrading to a motherboard that can match the performance of an i9-9900K:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z370-GAM...upport#cpu
You can now overclock the 8600k by around 35% with a suitable cooler.
A high-quality thermal solution costs about $50. Your H100 is likely to fail soon, and the premium model offers better reliability.
For gaming, the main advantage comes from a more powerful graphics card. Your power supply is adequate, but enhanced graphics will probably require a more robust PSU.
Thanks for the response. I'm sure to choose the better RAM. It makes a lot of sense when you explain it like that.
The case you picked seems like a much better choice. I've heard from a few people before, so I'll definitely go with the Montech model instead of the Phanteks.
Love the cooler. It looks like a much better option rather than something that might not last long. Plus, the price is really good—feels like a great deal for the performance you get.
Regarding the GPU, won't it be worth paying extra for a 7800 XT compared to an 9060 XT?
As long as the 9060 XT can handle 1440p and GTA 6 when it comes out, that's all I'm concerned about.
You really caught my interest with the 7500F. Maybe I'll go with that instead of the 7600X.
The price difference is only around 200 kr (about 30$), but the performance gap isn't huge.
I'm glad the PSU is fine.
Appreciate getting some advice from someone who seems to have much more expert knowledge than me. Thanks for finding the products at Danish prices on the website. Thank you very much.
Thanks for the response.
The budget is a bit tight, so I need to keep costs in mind while enjoying golf too.
I’ve gone ahead and upgraded the memory as you suggested.
It looks like a much better choice compared to my first option.
For the tower, I’m choosing the Montech air 903 base atx tower mid instead of the Phanteks case.
I’ll also switch to a different cooler than my current one.
Now I just need to decide between:
ID-COOLING SE-214-XT ARGB 68.2 CFM CPU Cooler or
ID-COOLING FROZN A620 PRO SE 58 CFM CPU Cooler.
The CPU I picked instead of the 7600x seems more affordable—around 200 kr (30$), though the performance gap isn’t huge. I might stick with it instead.
Regarding the power supply, are you confident a 550W would suffice? I’ve seen many videos showing 750W setups for similar specs.
Consider how your setup might adapt with the same motherboard. Think about affordable components that fit your needs. Also, be mindful of your skill level when adjusting performance settings.
The review discusses the ASUS Radeon RX 9060 XT Prime OC 16 GB graphics card.
there is a distinction but justifying the cost gap is challenging. Additionally, considering that the FSR4 won't reach 7800 XT
