Create a fresh gaming setup with AdviceHelp.
Hello,
I’m planning to set up a new system and will be using a 1000W PSU and a 3080ti motherboard. I’m trying to understand the benefits of lower RAM timings and their relevance for gaming. So far, I’ve selected these components. I’m aiming for a white build and am uncertain about the exact specifications but want options in white, gold, or silver. If you have any advice on alternative parts that would fit well with my setup, please let me know and thank you.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! Users are advised to stylize their threads with info asked of in this thread; *How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice* How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice First off, respect where respect is due - this is an adaptation of the Animal's *How To Ask For New Build Advice* Sticky. I created this because there's a lot of posts nowadays asking for upgrade advice both on here and on the CPU forums, and I feel... forums. to help lend some context into your predicaments, to which the community will chime in with worthwhile suggestions. Please include the make, model and age of the PSU that you wish to recycle from your older build. As for the ram, you can pass on a link to the ram kit. If you can't, if the ram kit has AMD's E.X.P.O advertised on it, then yes, it'll work with your current listing. Moved thread from Components section to Systems section.

Thank you for your message. The specific reason for not choosing CL26 isn't clear. It might be because a lower number is preferable, or perhaps it doesn't matter in gaming, and you're feeling you're spending money unnecessarily.
Low latency RAM is often seen as advantageous for gaming, though the improvement is usually minor in practice. You can test it, but you’re unlikely to notice a significant change between systems with similar setups—especially when one uses RAM with better timing and another has slower ones. If possible, opt for something like DDR 6000 with latencies in the low thirties, but don’t compromise on other parts to save money on RAM alone. In my opinion, the gains from a higher-quality component—such as more storage, a better CPU or GPU, or a better power supply—far outweigh the slight boost from faster RAM.
I’m not going to lie, I really enjoy that golden hue, but based on its sound, I might prefer the RÁM why_me link. I don’t think I can find a better part I’ve already picked. If there’s anything even better than what I linked, please let me know. Thank you very much.
